Georgia O’Keeffe Cardboard Flowers

I was asked if I had an example of 3D work I’d created in the style of Georgia O’Keeffe and surprisingly she is an artist I’ve never covered. So what a great excuse to have a go.

I’ve created a really simple 3D relief image here based on one of her incredible paintings. The basic petal and leaf shapes are all cut from card and then slit or folded to make them more three-dimensional.

I’ve used some paper straws to create a very simple frame.

Then, once happy with the basic design, you can strengthen it and add some textures. I’ve just used some leftover card ripped up to create a textured background and I’ve also used some scrap tissue paper to paste onto any parts that needed strengthening.

Then, once dry, you can paint it.
